Some recipes call for apple sauce as an ingredient or an accompaniment. It is not worth buying as it is so easy to make, and much cheaper especially if you have an apple tree. A lot of recipes online have other things added but I like to keep it basic. I also love it on porridge or as a dessert with custard.
1 large cooking apple
Peel and chop the apple and put in a small saucepan and cover with cold water. Bring to the boil then simmer for about 10 minutes until the apple is soft. That’s it!
